PORTFOLIO PROFILE

dstry:evrtyng
is a design and art direction studio in Tokyo ( Japan ) and Florence ( Italy ). Since 2007 the studio has worked on identity, editorial, and large-scale installations. Led by Giovanni Antignano, it also directs projects built with partner studios, across architecture, retail, fashion, music, and culture.

The name describes the method. Every project starts by taking the brief apart: the habits, the references, the obvious answer. What survives is the work.

“Almost anything goes. FUTURE IS CERTAIN”

Spatial design and installations

Sensing
Cameras + computer vision

The space starts by perceiving who's in it and what they're doing. We use computer vision, depth cameras, motion sensors, and whatever else the project calls for, often combined to handle different ranges and conditions.
Logic
Custom software

We write the software that decides what the space should do with what it's sensing. Most of it is built from scratch, because off-the-shelf tools rarely cover the specific behaviour a project needs. Like our VELD
Response
Real-time output

The space reacts. That might mean projection, screens, lighting, sound, or moving elements, all driven live by what's happening in the room.

Build
Fabrication + materials

We design and fabricate the physical fixtures: walls, plinths, screens, custom enclosures, bespoke furniture. Built to hold up in retail, museum, and event environments where things get touched, knocked, and used hard.
Hardware
Embedded systems

Screens, sensors, computers, and cabling get integrated into the build so the technology disappears. No exposed wires or visible boxes. Just the experience.
Atmosphere
Lighting + audio

Lighting and sound shape how a space feels long before the content does. We design and program both as part of the same picture, not as add-ons.

Sources
Archives + research + live feeds

We work with whatever the project has to offer: corporate archives, academic datasets, open data, sensor feeds, sometimes all at once. Part of the job is figuring out which parts are actually worth showing.
Translation
From numbers to form

We turn the data into something with shape, motion, and texture. Generative visuals, spatial audio, architectural lighting. Each output is built around what the data is doing, not a template applied on top.
Output
Visual + audio + light

The result is something you experience in a space, not on a screen. People can walk around it, sit with it, come back to it. The aim is to give data a body.
